(See Constitution 5.2) ******************************* Nominations are requested from people interested in forming a committee to run OPEN WATER events in the Swimming North Coast Area during 2012-2013 season. Please email your name, contact details and experience (if any) to the Secretary at swimmingnorthcoast@hotmail.com by 30th April 2012******************************* SNSW COUNTRY SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS Held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre25 and 26 February 2012. Swimming North Coast had a very good representation from the clubs in the Area and swimmers performed very well in a competition with a record number of entries. Trinity Lismore marched well to win the March Past. This is the second time that they have won and became the first team north of Newcastle to do so. In the club point score Port Macquarie was the top team with an 11th placing with Forster coming in at 17th, Twin Towns at 21st and Trinity Lismore at 24th. The following swimmers have indicated that they wish to compete at the Finals in Sydney. Please check and if there are any problems ring 65624273 urgently as the list will be finalised Sunday 19th, February. There are still a few vacant places as we do not have 6 placings in all events. If you want to go in any of these please ring ! Note You must have competed in the Heats to be eligible for the finals. ******************************* An opportunity has arisen for a representative from the southern area of Swimming North Coast to fill a vacant position on the SNC Development Committee. The successful applicant will be part of the progressive committee that allows for ongoing opportunities in all levels of development in the SNC Area. Anyone with an interest in the development of our area is most welcome to apply. The majority of committee meetings are by way of Skype. With a view to promote our sport in our local areas, we are requesting Clubs or Individuals (please receive your Clubs approval prior to entering this promotion) to submit some local news stories or story concepts to Narelle Duggan (North Coast - Development Officer) for submission to local papers. This additional media may assist us to encourage new swimmers or motivate some of our current swimmers during the winter months. DETAILS. Expressions of interest in attending an announcer's training day is been called for by Janelle Barnett. At present the area has only one qualified announcer and this is an opportunity for those who are announcing at Club to gain their credentials and learn the correct procedure to be followed at a swim meet. If you are interested please contact Janelle or any member of the Committee. The Speedo Series Heats will be held at Kempsey 4th. February 2012. This meet is a NSW Meet with the Kempsey Club hosting the meet on behalf of Swimming North Coast. The finals will be held at Homebush with the first 6 placegetters in the heats being eligible to compete. The events are for 8 years to 13 years swimmers only. Note it is 8 years, not 8yrs and under. Ribbons are awarded to placegetters on the day. Merchandise will be supplied by Swimming NSW and for sold by the Area. All Clubs are invited to attend and swimmers do not have to be registered to compete. HOWEVER if they want to swim in Sydney, they must join a Club to be eligible. The Meet will commence at 9AM. Following the Speedo Heats, but not before 12 noon, Kempsey will be conducting a Qualifying Sprint Meet for swimmers 14yrs. 15yrs. 16yrs/over and Open to give those family members that are not eligible for Speedo a chance to swim on the day. (Those swimming in the morning are welcome to swim in Open events.) Medals will be provided for the placegetters and Kempsey is asking for your support to make it a great day of swimming. Kempsey is an 8 lane heated 50m. pool with a large grandstand and plenty of open space. S.A.T timing will be used and times sent to Sydney for qualifying purposes. ******************************* | |||||||

The members of the Technical Committee have been
busy conducting training and assessment sessions over the past few months.
With the result, the area now has a growing number of qualified officials.
Clubs wishing to participate in the training days are welcome to do so and
this can be organised by contacting the Secretary, Ann Pilkie.
******************************* This weekend sees the inaugural Long Course Championships for Swimming North Coast - being held at Coffs Harbour over a two day meet, Saturday and Sunday.
Coffs Harbour is the geographical heart of the
area which runs from Tea Gardens all the way up to the Queensland boarder.
Swimmers from 27 clubs out of a possible 34 clubs are operating in the
area, are in attendance at these championships. Clubs are coming
from as far south as Foster and Tweed in the north. There will also
be visiting swimmers from a Gold Coast club in Queensland - Burleigh
Heads.
300 swimmers in total will be swimming for a
total of 2079 individual entries, plus 27 relays.
The Port Macquarie club has the top number of
swimmers with 48 swimmers in all.
Swimmers did have to meet qualifying times to be
eligible for this meet, and swimmers making qualifying times, will qualify
for the state and national titles, and is the next level down from these
titles.
It really is a very exciting time for these young
swimmers, and for the sport of swimming on the North Coast, with
the possibility of making development squads and earning the opportunity
of learning from the best coaches, and setting their sites on the Olympics
at Rio in 2016.

There has been a problem with the online
system for entries and the area has had to close down this option for
the Summer Championships. All Associations including Queensland
Swimming are having the same problem and until it is rectified by the
provider, all online entries have been suspended. IF YOU HAVE
ATTEMPTED TO PUT IN YOUR ENTRIES ONLINE FOR SNC SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Online entries for SNC Championships at Coffs Harbour are now available. Pool information for SNC Championships. The pool will be available for warm-up from 8AM. on both days. Pool entry for the carnival will be $3 for swimmers and $1 for spectators. There will be two lanes available all day in the 25m. pool for warm-ups and warm- downs for competitors. However any other swimmers that want to swim in the 25m. pool it will be $4.30 adults and $3.80 child.

| Swimmers competing at the NSW Development Meet held Sunday 25th. September did the area proud, coming third in the point score and second in the medal tally. Two buses were taken to Homebush, picking up swimmers throughout the area. The winners of the point score was Metro South East with 1790 points, followed by SMSW with 1580 points and Swimming North Coast in third place with 1433 points. In the medal count, Swimming North Coast swimmers collected 13 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze, a total of 27 medals. Metro South West just pipped the area but only collected 8 Gold, however they collected 10 silver and 10 bronze coming up with a total of 28 medals. Well done !. point score. medal tally. results. Congratulations to Jesse King from Forster. Jesse competed in the 100m and 200m Breastroke events at the State Age Championships over the weekend. Jesse won Gold in the 16year Men’s 100m Breastroke: 1:03:69 (which was a PB), Jesse also won Gold in the 16 year Men’s 200m Breastroke: 2: 17:47 (a 3 second PB! Jesse has also been selected as a member of the Australian Youth Camp and Emerging Talent Squad. Other Area members to compete were Claudia Todd (TSA) and Jacinta McAvoy (Port Macquarie). Both these swimmers improved on their entry times. |

The North Coast Fees for 2011/12 will be $4.00 for swimmers and $2.00 for non swimmers. These fees will be incorporated into Swimming NSW Fees and paid through the online registration system. DO NOT send the money to Swimming North Coast . However Clubs need to consider these amounts when setting their fees. | |

| NSW Country SC Championships saw some great swimming from the Area Swimmers. Most successful was Jesse King from Forster Club who won gold in the Men's 15/over 200m. breaststroke (2-20.56) and Silver medals in the 15/over 100m. Breaststroke (1-04.03) and the Open 50m. Breaststroke (29.58) | |
| Tristan Ludlow from Mullumbimby Club took 1st. place in the 13yrs. Men's 100m. Backstroke. However Tristan's great surprise came when he broke the 13yrs. Country record for 50m. Backstroke when competing in the Open event. His time of 29.92secs. eclipsed the record of of Hugo Morris 30.26 secs. set on 12/07/08. Full area results can be found in "results" | |

| The first Championship Meet of the new area was conducted over the weekend 18-19 June. The Short Course Meet was conducted at two venues, Lismore and Forster and the results were merged to give the final results. Medals were presented as results were received, however the last few events were not finalised on the day and these medals will be posted out. There were numerous PB's as can be seen by the results. It is hoped to have a list of new records shortly and they will be available on the website. | |

| Finally- a new domain name of www.swimmingnorthcoast.org.au has been registered. It is hoped that the firm hosting the website will have all the links in place and the new name activated by Tuesday 7th. June. |

| Officials whose accreditation has become due for renewal are urged to contact Janelle Barnett urgently to arrange for the submission to Swimming Australia to have these accreditations renewed. Janelle will explain what is required if you are not sure of the steps to take. Whilst it may be easier just to say "forget it", we don't want Officials to lose their well earned accreditation. Remember it is only to ensure that you keep up to date with changes to the rules etc. | |

| With the resignation of Leigh Eastwood as Co-Ordinator of the Development Committee, Peter Charlton has been appointed to fill the position. This now leaves a vacancy on the Committee and nominations are called for a new member from the old Far North Coast area. If you are interested in nominating for the position would you please contact the Secretary, Mrs. Ann Pilkie. The Committee is also seeking interested members to become publicity Officers for the area. It is hoped to have one from the old northern area and one from the southern area and once again please contact the Secretary if you are interested in these positions. | |

Narelle Duggan has joined the Swimming NSW team to assume the role of Development Officer – North Coast. Narelle brings a wealth of business knowledge and practical experience to the role with over 14 years in Advertising, Marketing, Account Management and Business Development. These business skills are supported by current certification and involvement in teaching learn to swim and corrective strokes plus being a certified Personal Trainer with a specialty in training Children. Swimming NSW has announced the appointment of the new Development Officer for Swimming North Coast. Narelle Duggan will take up her position officially from 16th. May. |

The new area has commenced operations with all former Clubs from Far North Coast and Mid North Coast now being invited to Affiliate with the new area. Affiliation became due 1st. April. This website is being used until such time as a domain name is registered and a web co-ordinator is appointed. At this time the position is vacant and anyone who wishes to take on the job is asked to contact the Secretary. | |
